On Friday 5th January 2018 some 24 “Junior Aviators” of the Aeronautical Society of Mauritius (AeSM) together with 6 accompanying adults (parents or members of the aeronautical society), spent an enjoyable and satisfying day at the SSR International Airport in the company of pilots and engineers of MAS and PHS. We cannot sufficiently thank the teams of both of these important Units for their welcome given to our band of enthusiastic children in their age range from 9 to 19. Questions were patiently answered and demonstrations and videos were shown by professional and very patient hosts, while cameras clicked all the time!
This was the second of a series of aeronautical trips organized during school holidays by the Aeronautical Society of Mauritius for youngsters with an interest in Aviation. The first, which took place on 5th August, had been the occasion for a trip to Mon Loisir airfield in the North of the island, to see the home of the SkyDive Austral activities. The next “balade”, which will also of course relate to aviation, will be planned to take place during the Easter holidays.
At the end of 2016 Captain Dick Twomey the Aeronautical Society’s President, announced that membership of the Society had reached a total of over 120 including members, corporate partners and the new category of secondary school “Junior Aviators”.
