About Jagadish Soobarah CEng, FRAeS, FIEM, FAeSM, MIET, CDipAF, RPEM.
Jag Soobarah, a graduate in Telecommunications Engineering started his career in 1969 as Engineer with the former Dept of Telecommunications. He then moved to the Dept of Civil Aviation where he served from Nov 1976 to Oct 1995, successively as Aeronautical Communications Engineer, Principal Engineer, Deputy Director, and Director of Civil Aviation. In Nov 1995 he was appointed GM of Airport Development Corporation Ltd (ADCO). Following the merger of ADCO with Airport Management Services into Airports of Mauritius Ltd (AML), he joined AML as Head of Engineering and Corporate Strategy, then as CEO from Nov 2002 to his retirement in Jun 2004. While on leave from the Dept of Civil Aviation he served as GM of Development Works Corporation (Nov 1980 to Feb 1985) and GM of Mauritius Tea Factories Ltd (July 1987 to March 1990). Jag Soobarah is presently Vice President of AeSM. He has also served as President of Institution of Engineers Mauritius (IEM) on several occasions and Chair of the Council of Registered Professional Engineers (CRPE) for many years. He is currently AeSM’s nominee on the Engineering Accreditation Board of IEM.
